The Mejlis (Parliament) of Turkmenistan is a legislature representative body
Today, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov has held a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers via a digital system, at which priority issues of state life were discussed.
The floor was first given to Chairwoman of the Mejlis D. Gulmanova, who informed about the ongoing legislative work. As was reported, draft laws are currently prepared to further strengthen the legal framework for ensuring the protection of human rights and freedoms, improving civil law relations, energy saving and efficient use of energy, and determining the legal framework for hydrometeorological activities. At the same time, the necessary amendments and addenda are made to the Family and Civil Procedure Codes, and the provisions contained in a number of laws are brought into line with the requirements of the time.
In addition, practical steps are taken to expand cooperation with foreign states and international organizations. Thus, on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan, credentials were accepted from the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Swiss Confederation to our country. At the same time, meetings were held with the plenipotentiary representatives of the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Turkiye, during which issues of further development of inter-parliamentary relations were discussed.
The report included information on the participation of Mejlis deputies in events to explain the basic aspects of the domestic and foreign policy of the independent Homeland and the socio-political significance of the motto of 2024, and to popularize the literary heritage of great Turkmen poet and thinker Magtymguly Fragi. As was reported, people’s representatives systematically appear in the mass media with materials about the goals of the adopted legislative regulations.
Summing up the information, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov focused on the importance of continuing activities to further improve the national legislative framework.
