The Mejlis of Turkmenistan properly conducts and expands cooperation relations with the parliaments of foreign countries and leading international organizations. Turkmenistan, as the main areas of parliamentary diplomacy, prioritizes improving the work of parliamentary friendship groups, supporting the work of young and women parliamentarians, as well as expanding the range of cooperation in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals staying on the global agenda.

Currently, Mejlis of Turkmenistan has established 46 parliamentary friendship groups on a bilateral basis with the parliaments of the countries of the world. 

The Mejlis of Turkmenistan is a member of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE PA).
