On August 8, 2025, at the final plenary session of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, in the National Tourist Zone «Awaza», the representative of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan made a report on the results of the parliamentary forum on the topic «Charting the Course: Advancing the Awaza Programme of Action for LLDCs», organized within the framework of this international forum.
The Parliamentary Forum, which was held with a broad representation of the world's states and international organizations (about 100 parliamentarians from more than 40 countries), became one of the important platforms for exchanging best practices in the field of lawmaking and parliamentary work methods. The main goal of the Forum is to enhance the role of parliamentarians in the implementation of the Awaza Programme of Action for Landlocked Developing Countries for 2024-2034.
This Forum played a significant role in addressing important issues on the global agenda, strengthening friendship between countries and peoples, expanding effective cooperation in the interests of common prosperity, enhancing the role of parliamentary diplomacy, and exchanging mutual experience in parliamentary and legislative work.
At the Parliamentary Forum sections devoted to the topics such as: From Vienna to Awaza: Unresolved Challenges, Lessons Learned and Way forward; Shaping and Strengthening a Multilateral Trading System that Delivers for All in the LLDCs; Building Peace, Trust and Accountable Governance: Enablers of Sustainable Development in LLDCs, the parliamentarians exchanged views on a wide range of issues aimed at achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. They got acquainted with the work carried out within the framework of Turkmenistan’s strategy «Revival of the Great Silk Road», which was approved thanks to the tireless efforts of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and is reaching new heights of development under the wise leadership of our Esteemed President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
The forum presented valuable proposals and opinions on the scientific substantiation of the political and economic significance of international transport and communication corridors. Ways to unite the efforts of national parliaments in ensuring peace and mutual trust, achieving sustainable development goals were discussed.
At the final session of the Parliamentary forum, a Parliamentary message to the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries was adopted.
The participants of the parliamentary forum expressed gratitude to the National Leader of the turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the Esteemed President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov for the hospitality and cordiality of the Turkmen people on the Caspian coast, for the opportunities and conditions created for holding the Forum at a high organizational level.
